BIOGRAPHY
A native of Lafayette, Indiana, John has been painting
and illustrating for over 26 years. Eschewing the narrow
and fixed label of illustrator or painter, John sees
himself as an image maker, creating illustrations, plein
air oil landscapes, digitally-colored woodcuts, and spontaneous "source" paintings
in tempera.
John has been a long-time member of the Graphic Artists Guild, Society of Illustrators,
and Illustrator's Partnership of America.
ILLUSTRATION
John's work has included editorial, advertising,
institutional, book, web, and packaging assignments.
Editorial work has appeared in US News & World Report,
The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Architectural Digest, Der Speigel,
Sports Illustrated, The Los Angeles Times, and Barrons.
Advertising clients include American Express, GTE, Dupont,
Citibank, NorthBanc, and Bank of America.
Book illustrations have appeared in publications of
Simon Schuster, Harcourt Brace, Harvard Common Press, Northwestern University
Press, The National Geographic Society, and the University of North Carolina
Press.
